You may not need more clothes; you may just need help understanding how to make the clothes you have work together.

Without realizing it, you’re stuck in this cycle:

I can’t figure out what to wear with this → I must be missing something → I’ll buy something that works with it.

Then:

The new piece creates another problem → I don’t have the right thing to wear with this either → I shop again.

Shopping has become the way you solve almost every wardrobe struggle.

You need something to wear with a pair of pants, so you buy a top. You need shoes to make the outfit work, so you buy those too. Then one of those new pieces needs something else to go with it.

Repeat cycle.

Every time you struggle to put an outfit together, you assume your wardrobe is missing something.

And sometimes, it is. You’re missing specific pieces that would make more of the clothes in your closet easier to wear.

But sometimes, your wardrobe isn’t missing anything. You already own what you need; you just don’t know how to put those pieces together in different ways.

When you can’t tell which one it is, you solve both the same way: you shop.

Your closet keeps growing, but somehow, you’re still wearing the same types of outfits.

A wardrobe shouldn’t require another purchase every time you want to create a different outfit.

The way you’re trying to get more outfits might be why you still don’t have them.

You buy a top because you can picture it with a pair of pants you already own.

You see an outfit you like and buy a similar piece.

You add another pair of jeans because they’re different from the ones you have.

You buy the shoes everyone says are versatile.

You save outfit ideas, follow shopping recommendations, and add another “wardrobe essential” to your closet.

Every purchase feels like you’re giving yourself something new to wear.

But adding another piece to your closet doesn’t automatically create more outfits.

If that new top only works with one pair of pants, you’ve added a top — not necessarily more outfit options.

If the new shoes only work with a few specific looks, you’ve added another pair of shoes — not necessarily made the rest of your wardrobe easier to wear.

And if you already owned something that could have done the same job, you’ve added more of what you already had without changing how much you can do with your wardrobe.

Over time, that adds up.

Your closet gets fuller. More clothes go unworn. You have more individual pieces you like, but you’re still relying on the same combinations that you know work.

The number of clothes in your closet keeps increasing. The number of outfits you can actually put together doesn’t.

The goal isn’t to stop buying clothes.

The goal is to understand what your wardrobe needs so you can wear more of the clothes you already own.

Knowing what to add starts with understanding what your wardrobe needs.

When you want to wear a pair of pants in your closet, you shouldn’t have to find a top specifically for those pants.

You should already have several tops that work with them. Different layers you can add. Shoes that give you more than one way to finish the outfit.

The same top should work with more than one bottom. The same layer should work across different outfits. The same shoes should give you options with more than one type of look.

That’s how you start creating different outfits around the clothes you already own without needing to buy something every time you want to wear them differently.

And depending on what’s already in your closet, you may need more of those options in different places.

Maybe you have plenty of bottoms but very few tops that work across them. Maybe you need more current layers. Maybe you need more options beyond pants. Maybe you need stylish everyday shoes that work across more of your wardrobe.

This is why knowing where you need more options is only part of the answer.

You still need to know which styles will give you the most options while bringing a more current feel to the clothes you already own.

That’s exactly why I created…

  • "A million thanks again for what you are doing - your work has been incredibly helpful to me, and I am getting lots of compliments on my style. And this is for someone who used to feel defeated standing on front of my wardrobe every morning."

  • "It made me look at my wardrobe with different eyes. Going through my closet, I saw similar items that I already had and enjoyed wearing (and others I didn't like because of fabric content), I became aware of different combinations of clothing and accessories, and I even ordered a few items you suggested. Pieces of my wardrobe worked together with your suggestions to get me out of a fashion rut."

  • "I love your guides so much - they have been, by far, the most helpful thing I have found in my journey to explore and refine my personal style. I print out each guide and store them in binders, so I can refer to them when I'm trying to figure out what to wear in the morning, or when I just need a little inspiration to finish a look. Your professional advice has helped me to simplify and consolidate my wardrobe, while at the same time making it seem like I actually have MORE clothes to choose from, because everything goes together so beautifully. You've also introduced me to some classic pieces - like cami tops - that I hadn't considered wearing previously, and now I adore them."

  • "First off, your e-books have changed my life- seriously! I'm a 45 year old woman with three teenage sons and was feeling like I was looking old and frumpy and invisible. It was affecting my marriage, my social life and my self image. I had even stopped having fun with hair and makeup because I never liked what I saw. I have followed your plans, bought a lot of new clothes and accessories (and got rid of most of what I owned) on crazy good deals, with my husband's encouragement, and organized my wardrobe. I am now looking forward to social occasions and date nights:). Our marriage has gotten back on track and I feel youthful and attractive again, without looking too trendy or like I'm trying too hard. I'm even putting effort in to hair and makeup again and loving it and my husband is happy to have the old me back:). I'm so happy to have found you!"

  • "I would like to thank you for this and previous ebooks that I have bought. After 14 weeks in isolation in UK with no chance to visit shops and limited online shopping, this week my husband said “Is that new? You always look so well dressed”. Proof that s"hopping in your own wardrobe works!

  • "I just want to tell you I’ve done many capsule programs in the last few years, and I ordered your wardrobe basics e-book yesterday, and it is THE best of them all without question. I love that you’ve explained how to do simple, neutral classics without being boring (the rule of three is brilliant) - AND I had many pieces that can work with this approach in my closet; I just wasn’t using them because they weren’t organized. I’m going to work through building all the basics, and then will look at your seasonal books when I’m ready. Anyways, just a note of thanks and WELL DONE; really, there are so many capsules out there but yours is by far the best I’ve come across. Wish I’d found you a few years ago when I started doing capsules! 👏👏"

  • "I wanted to let you know that I love my ebook basics that I purchased from you. I have used the time at home during these times to sort my wardrobe out - and I didn't realize at all how few basics I had. My wardrobe was stuffed full of interesting dresses and blouses, but I couldn't understand why I struggled to put together a simple look at the weekend, other than a t-shirt and jeans. Your e-book really helped to build up on basics - that also double up for work. I have gone through it religiously and now feel a lot happier, it's been great! I have made some good basic purchases on your recommendations - utility jacket, sleeveless patterned tops (that are amazing with a skirt or jeans, as per your outfit looks on your ebook), basic pencil skirts, nice flats, trench coat. I never even owned a chambray shirt before, I don't know why not, but I do now, really nice and goes with everything. Fantastic! Thank you so much!"

  • "Loving your work. You have single-handedly cured me of a compulsive desire to shopshopshop. I am now looking at my wardrobe with love and excitement. Thanks to you, I have realized that I am actually on the right track with my closet selections - mostly basics, some louder pieces. I am making a list of a few basics I need to get (a couple pairs of slacks; cream and grey turtlenecks). Based on what I saw in your books, those 4 pieces will help me to pull quite a few outfits together. Your e-books are my night-time stories to read. Will be putting together my outfits for the week tonight using your combinations."

    — Customer

  • "Thank you for simplifying how to look good with minimal pieces. I sing your praises to all my friends."

    — Customer

  • "I used a combo of the regular/warm weather books for a recent trip to Seattle. My husband started a running tally of all of the compliments I received on the street!"
